French Kindergarten - Block A
What’s Included:
This “Block A” class covers Lessons 1-10 in our FLY Kindergarten Curriculum. In each Lesson, students will learn 5 vocabulary words, a question/answer dialogue segment, and a cultural fact. Subjects included in Lessons 1-10 are:
Total Vocabulary Words Introduced: 100
Total Dialogue Segments Introduced: 21
Continuing Learning Options:
FLY’s Kindergarten Curriculum includes a total of 40 Lessons. This Block A covers Lessons 1-10. After finishing Block A, your student can continue on to Block B to cover Lessons 11-20 of the FLY Kindergarten Curriculum.
Participants must be entering grades kindergarten to 1.
French Kindergarten - Block B
Pre-requisite for this class is French Kindergarten - Block A

This “Block B” class covers Lessons 11-20 in our FLY Kindergarten Curriculum. In each Lesson, students will learn 5 vocabulary words, a question/answer dialogue segment, and a cultural fact. Subjects included in Lessons 11-20 are:

• Body Parts
• Weather & Seasons
• Clothes
Total Vocabulary Words Introduced: 50
Total Dialogue Segments Introduced: 20

FLY’s Kindergarten Curriculum includes a total of 40 Lessons. This Block B covers Lessons 11-20. After finishing Block B, your student can continue on to Block C to cover Lessons 21-30 of the FLY Kindergarten Curriculum.

FLY’s Kindergarten Curriculum includes a total of 40 Lessons. This Block D covers Lessons 31-40. After finishing Block D, your student can continue on to Level 1 – Block A to cover Lessons 1-10 of the FLY Level 1 Curriculum.

Welcome to FLY French!
FLY is excited to offer an introduction to French that is specifically designed for Kindergarten students!

Technical Requirements:
1. Device (personal computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone) with a camera and speaker
2. FLY uses Canvas for classwork and Microsoft Teams for live classes
Total Weekly Time Commitment: 2-hours
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL LISTED TIMES ARE IN PACIFIC STANDARD TIME (PST).
Each Lesson takes about 2-hours of student time. Since this Block meets twice a week, students will learn two Lessons a week and will have 2-hours of work total per week.
Activities & Live Class:
Established in 1995, Foreign Language for Youth ("FLY") is a non-profit 501c3 organization that teaches Spanish, French, Japanese and Mandarin Chinese to students grades K-8. For 25 years, FLY taught in-person classes in 70% of the school districts throughout Puget Sound. In March 2020, FLY transitioned our curriculums to online and expanded our remote class offerings to students across the United States.
I'm so glad, but not surprised, that FLY has developed such a robust language program for students. This is the perfect time for children to learn a foreign language as remote learning affords more flexibility in schedules. I would think that a lot of parents would be interested in this for their children.
